THE END THAT LEADS INTO THE BEGINNNING...

Maybe life is circular. I'm resting up right now, since finals have been done and over with for a couple days now, but before I know it, I'm back subjecting myself to the mercy of the MCAT. Looking around for research positions here and there. Rejection is a part of it too, but as long as you're sincere and willing to work, someone will eventually take you. After doing 3 years of essentially nothing... I think I'm ready to contribute.

Anyway, the reason why I brought this blog back from the dead once again is that I have something extended to write about. And like most of my recent rants, it will again involve anime. I think most of the people who know me the best already know my stance on various things outside of anime and wushu. It's pretty simple. Striving for balance, in most if not all things, would be the best solution to everything. To step back a little bit and think about how my actions are causing the ripple in everything. To know that the ways of the world will be hard to change, that this world we inherited is getting worse and thats the way it will very possibly be to the next generation, and yet still think that there is some good in this world. That is what I strive for. That is how I kept my optimism and fight to keep it. To know that the very little that I do know will not encompass much of anything, and still learn about this world. That, I think, is the best we can do with our limited time here.

So, after that little reminder, I propose a little argument about the best characterization for a main male lead in any anime. I call it: the Vash. As you can tell, Vash the Stampede is my favorite anime character of all time. He can be goofy and silly one moment, galant and defiant the next. No matter the situation, he stands firm in what he believes, and holds no grudges. He is able to give and recieve love, cause he has known the alternative, and he wouldn't wish that on anyone. A leader who leads by strong conviction in words and deed, a rebel who cares little for the conventions of the established order if he feels that they go counter to anything he holds sacred. He fights to save his friends from harm, he endures pain to ensure the safety of strangers, and he does not kill his so-called "enemies" because he knows that it is a vicious cycle that tears apart the thing he has worked so hard to preserve. After all, life is about LOVE and PEACE. Now, ive seen elements of this characterization (not all, since there can be only one vash) in various animes. The most recent one of memory is Shura no Toki, and the goofy/cool duo is found in Yakumo. There are others... but i can't think of them right now...

Which leads us into the second best characterization, which I call: Spike coolness. Theres a whole lot of characters who are cocky and can back it up, maybe even too much. But Spike was the best at it, even if he wasn't the original. Spike Spiegel was cocky, which fueled his foolhardiness and recklessness in difficult situations. And he always seemed to come out alive, w/ nary a scratch sometimes. Fluid and dynamic in movement, with a sense of style that is all his own. His whole aura exudes this "cool", the definition of which no one is really sure about, but knows that he embodies it. That's pretty much it... recently there has been no one like Spike, even remotely close to him. So, I can't think of anyone as cool as him...

Oh yea, both of these sort of guys have girls fawning over them, if not immediately then eventually. I enjoy seeing these types of guys leading in the animes. Wishy-washy guys piss me off, cause I've known them. I was one of them. To gauge the amount and extent of thinking is a fine art. But, if u already know, then there is no need to think about it.
Yea, so thats it for now. More to come later... way later.
