FINALLY...

i have something to post about in my "extended" thoughts blog. Nothing really much substantial, since i havent had much revelations as of late. Or, i would get some really good thought and then i would forget about it after a long while. Short answer... i havent found anything interesting to write about nor did i care to write about it. Since im in the right mood, i thought i would write some ponderances i had throughout the day. I think what got me on my train of thought was Daredevil, and surprisingly it was better than i expected. B4 i go on w/ anything, i have to put in a slight disclaimer. In terms of action movies which have fight choreography sequences, im quite the harsh judge. After being spoiled by Hero and the like, i dont give any1 a chance any more. Despite the fact that Jennifer Garner maybe a bonafide martial artist, it still does not save the fight choreography. American choreography, rather, non-HK choreography still has much to learn. I have stressed time and time again that this sort of choreography is an art form. Not only do u need the minimum amount of martial art training to look halfway decent, u have to have a certain fluidity. And that is the hardest to achieve. No matter how intricate the sequence, no matter how much cg u throw at it, what it all comes down to is the chemistry between the fighters, their individual strengths and how they tie their strengths w/ others. Sorry to say, Daredevil fell way short in this respect, but to their credit, ive seen way worse. Now, the movie as a whole was enjoyable to watch. The Daredevil character is quite interesting, Marvel has a knack for creating characters affected by a dark past. The whole "sound sight" effect was pretty nice as well. So, when i woke up today, i began to formulate something....

well, one of three thoughts, or rather characters, characters which would reflect a certain part of my own sensibilities. I admit that these characters are not original in any sort of way (besides, theres the saying that originality is well-disguised plagarism... again which is not an original thought of my own), rather, they can be thought of as a complilation of traits and such that i gathered from a variety of sources, mostly anime, drama and the movies. So, here i present to u one of three characters which sort of fit my own ideals and traits:

A HERO TYPE IN A DISTANT PAST:

When i refer to a distant past, im refering to times where guns are not in existence or jus coming into use, think 1500-1800's ish. Fists cant fight guns after all, and i consider guns themselves a lower form of combat. Sure, to properly use a gun u need a certain amt of training to use them. However, training does not equate to discipline. Essentially, it takes the bare minimum to fire a gun. Honor might be dead to a certain few, but honor does not lie in the way of the gun. Dont get me wrong, even tho i wouldnt ever own a gun personally, ive taken a certain liking toward them and i admire sharpshooters and the like. Its not my bag tho baby, jus not me.

So, since guns are out of the equation, close quarters combat still reigns. I havent formulated a name for my ideal distant-past hero, but i certainly know what he'll specialize in. He would have an uncanny ability in nanquan. For those of u who dont kno, nanquan is literally translated as "southern-fist". Its a modern compilation of forms made for sport Wushu, which comprises of Hung Gar, Choi-Li-Fut, some southern shaolin styles and animal forms. Its characterized by extreme variations of speed, immovable stance work and an overall aggresive mode of attack. Alright, for convenience sake, ill name my character Yang, after one of my idols, nanquan king Yang Shi Wen. Yang's attacks would be relentless, a blur of feet and hands designed to demolish even the most imposing defenses. His moniker among those from far off would be "hell hurricane" or something of that sort, something to reflect his lightning quick moves, especially his hammer punch (i really dont kno the correct term for this attack, but its supposed to crush ur opponent from above, a bonafide rain of pain). He wouldnt much care for weapons, but his favorite would be the southern staff, a thick staff made for thrusting and smash attacks.

Thats pretty much the gist of his attack styles. Now, his sensibilities would lie in a whole array of anime characters. 1st off, he'll have the Vash sort of duality, also found in Kenshin. This duality i refer to is a sort of switch in personality, a sort of normal/battle mode sort of personality. He would be a pretty charismatic and goofy sort of guy. Hes not a womanizer in any respect (again, its something i couldnt do), pretty much a one woman man. Not serious at all most of the time, he takes life day by day. It would be hard for him to express any sort of deep emotion, its something he couldnt find time to cultivate. And then there are situations which he jus turns it on... In this sort of situation, Yang would have a sort of Kazuma sensibility (Scyred). Pretty much an extension of his art, Yang would be relentless and devestating. The most amazing thing about the whole thing would be the fact that he is still human, yet still capable of taking so much punishment and dishing it out. Since he is mortal, there will be times where even Yang would be in over his head, outnumbered and sometimes outclassed. However, since martial art is as much internal as well external, even w/ a form such as nanquan, he would jus keep goin foward, ever so foward. His chi, honed by faithful training and undying spirit, would give him a resolve like none other. When it comes down to the fight, his spirit would reign supreme, an unquenchable thirst for the fight, an almost monstrous desire to strive forth. A look into his eyes at that certain moment would instill a certain fear into any1 daring to stare long enough, which would be followed by an increasing realization that it is nearly impossible to take on the "hell hurricane".

I think ill flesh out more details later. Oh yea, i forgot. Yang's dad would be much more hardcore than this. After all, he taught him all that he knows. More to come later then.
