ITS BEEN AWHILE...
since i last posted here. After i started the xanga, i pretty much designated this my "hardcore" posting thingy, but nothing much to talk about as of late. Done w/ the finals now, but yielding about the same results as last sem... if not a bit worse. Essh. Really have to rethink how i go about doing my studies and such, cause the way i went about it is not cutting it at all. I think im sounding like a broken record now... its the same thing over and over. Quite the Hamlet dilemma... when am i actually goin to do something about it? Heaven help me to find some inspiration, to infuse me w/ this reborn appreciation for the things i want to undertake. All the things i strive for will not be handed to me... and i must realize that soon...
Since im sounding like a broken record already, its time for another rant about somethin that makes my days all that much brighter. And that would be the dramas, the jdramas (or dorama), to be exact. The most recent one i finished off (this morning) is entitled Summer Snow, starring Dohmoto Tsuyoshi (part of Kinki Kids) and Hirosue Ryoko, who is one of my favorite japanese actresses. I first saw her in Oyaji, another jdrama that came out a few years back. Shes quite the cutie... heheh. Anyway, the inspiration for the title comes from marine snow, which is found deep within the ocean. This marine snow is the remnants of plankton that die within the ocean, which resembles falling snow. To see this "snow" in the summer is quite the paradox, which makes it all the more special. Tsuyoshi plays the part of Natsu, who runs a bike shop in a small town. After an unfortunate accident which claims the life of both his parents, hes forced to take care of his hearing-impaired brother Jun and his sister Chika. Natsu is pretty much ur all around nice, ol' fashioned guy. Losing his parents at such a young age made him realize the true importance of parents, of the family in general. He also tends to be a bit of a busybody, quick to help any1 with their troubles b4 his own. Ryoko plays the part of Yuki, a girl who was also touched by the hand of fate. Diagnosed w/ a heart condition at the age of 4, her heart had gradually enlargened throughout her life. This slow and unpredictable process makes her life quite tough, making her unable to exert herself. All her life, she was unable to run, play w/ the other kids, or swim in the ocean. (Side note: Yuki means snow in japanese, and Natsuo is summer... really close to Natsu. Put the both together... and BAM! Summer Snow... i thought it was pretty cool how they did that, hehe.)
As the drama goes on, Natsu contends w/ the trials of his little family, trying to make things right as well as learning a thing or two himself along the way. His relationship w/ Yuki grows steadily throughout the series. Unlike some of the dramas where the two lovers get together at the last minute... of the last episode... Natsu and Yuki hit it off pretty early. Even tho they go through some rough waters when Natsu finds out about Yuki's condition, the two gradually find a love that lasts. A love which gives Yuki the opportunity to live as normally as she can, Natsu by her side all the way through. Its doesnt have a ground-breaking storyline, but it doesnt need one. All these sorts of dramas have familiar conventions and such... u have ur love triangles, ur misunderstandings, sudden crisis that arises during moments of hapiness. But its that character development that draws u in. As i have always said, a good drama will make u feel for the characters. There was also some pretty good acting in this one. I havent seen Tsuyoshi in anything b4 this... but hes a pretty good actor, i really liked how he portrayed his character. Ryoko also did her part pretty well. And the ending... even tho it might be a smidgen predictable, still really good nonetheless. I wont say anything bout it... but Natsu did what he had always done till the very end...
These sorts of dramas hold a special place in this heart of mine... cause events happen which might not necessarily happen in reality. Case in pt, there was a little bit of a love triangle. There was a doctor named Seiji who apparently knew Yuki a long time b4 she met up w/ Natsu. In all honesty, 99.999% of any woman in her place would have gone for Seiji. 1st of all, he has the means to save you. 2nd, Seiji said that the reason he became a cardiologist was to cure Yuki... thats a pretty bold statement. 3rd, Seiji really cares for her, as much as Natsu does. Theres nothing really that sets Natsu apart... except for the fact that Yuki had already given her feelings to Natsu at that time. In the end, whoever is truly right for her is the one she holds in her heart...
Maybe thats a big reason why im attracted to these dramas in the 1st place. I can never say i truly been in love. I liked a whole bunch of girls in the past, but i dont think there has been a real true love. That notion of love is somethin i can only imagine at this pt. But when the time comes... i bet it'll far surpass anything i felt thus far. Some may believe that love of that sort ceased to exist. As long as humans live... this will never happen. A loveless world is one that cannot sustain any life, one that i cant possibly imagine...
hrmm... summer time is upon us. Maybe ill write some sappy stuff in my down time... hehehe. Well, till then, take care. More to come later.
