SIMPLICITY IS HARD TO ACHIEVE...

Today mostly consisted of grappling w/ a certain bear, a Telebear, that is. Since i had till 6 PM to register for my classes, i thought i could take my sweet time, waiting until this morning. That didnt work out too well, all of Bio 1a was full, and Bio 1b was jus about full. After doin some schedule shuffling, i found out that if i switch my chem 3A lecture to the morning, i could fit in all the classes that i wanted. Theres no option in switching lecture sections, so i figured if i dropped the class, made the switches real fast, then there would be no worries. Big mistake. I couldnt re-enroll into the chem 3a course... all the discussion sessions were full!!! AHHHH!!! That got me pretty ticked... i kinda blew up and went into a little funk this morning. But, thinking the whole thing through, being calmed down a whole lot by watchin some good anime, i think i made more out of it than it really was. In this day and age, blowing things out of proportion can be a common occurence w/ me. The best way to gather focus is to free ur mind of cluttering thoughts and worries and apprehensions. Sometimes the hardest thing to do is the simplest solution to the problem. Simplicity is a beautiful thing. After all, we are all human. Being human, we can stoop to the lowest denominator at the slightest threat, be hypocritical, and give into vice. However, thats cause we are human, not divine. Aside from the darkest sides of human nature, we have the capability to be something greater, have the aspirations to be something greater, despite what reality may seem to be. We have the ability to reason and also possess a logical mind, and sometimes we shatter the same logic and reason. Despite the rage, fury, anguish, sins of human nature, we still manage to find the strength and hope to continue and strive for a better life. That is admirable. So, in our darkest hours, or in jus ones that we find excruciatingly annoyin, we can calm down, and remember that in simplicity we can find the truth. Jus beautiful. So, thats what i tried to calm myself down w/, w/ jus that simple thought. And it turns out that it wasnt so bad after all. A little creative session w/ the telebear and i got the schedule i was aiming for. I might even change it in the end, but for now, it looks pretty snazzy. Well, heres two quotes that i was thinking about while calming myself down:

"Dont think. Feel"
Guess which movie this was from? Its one of Bruce Lee's most famous quotes. Overthinking situations, only concentrating on one aspect of a situation, can be costly. Sometimes u jus kno, have faith in ur abilities.

Soldats guy: "The world we live in is always within the darkness."
Mireille: "Which is why, we seek light."
Something to that effect. One of the most uplifting quotes out of this very dark series. I finished Noir today, and it stands as one of those series that makes my mouth drop in awe. Its jus really beautiful, what can i say? And the ending didnt disappoint. An ironic, uplifting end to one of the darkest tales. Noir means dark/black after all. All in all, very well done.

Ehh, jus what ive been thinking about. More to come soon.

CAN THERE BE TOO MUCH OF A GOOD THING???....

Maybe... everything in balance, after all. Yea, so on a overcast, pretty humid day, i decide to go to the batting cages. I havent been to one of those, ever, and i havent batted in ages. (Last time was probably back in junior high). But, it sounds like good fun. So, i meet up w/ Amy and later Maily at Boomers for some good clubbin (batting... its all the same thing...). First, we try out the medium pitch. Not too bad, i think i got in a couple good ones. But Amy pretty much worked me, hitting almost all those pitches pretty dang well. Now, time for the fast pitch. And i didnt kno how fast it really was, so the 1st pitch *whoosh*... and im left wide-eyed. Again, couple good cracks at the bat for me. And again, Amy works me at the fast pitch. Its all good. So, what else to do? How bout a little time at Gamers-X for some cs action? Sounds good to me. So, its gamers-x trip #1 for the day. A good half hr, some pretty good ppl playin, and i got worked over. Ehh, happens. Soon, it was time for Amy to go off to work, so i head on over to James' to get some good ol' anime again. And i got a pretty hefty collection to watch over in the little free time i have left b4 goin up to berk, thanks again to toooooo seeexxxyyy. After a little while, James and I head on over to the brea mall to meet Amy for some dinner. After that... gamers-x trip #2... James and I work some guys in iceworld... it was soo bad it became routine: pick up mp5, throw grenade, frag a couple guys, get fragged myself once in awhile, let James pwn the others... and repeat. By that time, i was pretty much spent, so that called for a trip to Tea Zone. Deja vu struck like no other... cause this is what happened yesterday... When Amy came off her shift around 11, it was time for gamers x trip #3... oooh man. That owner must have a voodoo doll of me somewhere... Again, James pwned iceworld... and i followed a little while later, mostly cause i had to go against him early on. And now u c me b4 u, a tired and disoriented man. Is there too much of a good thing? Ehhh, maybe not. Its more like a recharge. Jus spend some time apart, and those things that seem tired feel fresh and new again, like visiting an ol' friend... almost. But, for right now, toooo much cs... filling up sinuses. More batting welcomed. More to come later as well.

THERES SOME WEIRD NEWS STORIES OUT THERE...

Yea, so during a day of really jus lounging about the house, indulging in some real good watching. Noir is fast becoming one of my favorite anime series. Its jus plain awesome. And then theres this one Korean drama that ive been watching, starring Yang Dong Geun, one of my favorite actors. He can act... i didnt kno how well until i saw his performance on the drama that ive been watching. While i wasnt doing that, i chanced upon some interesting news article, one in print and the other on tv:

Possum hunting season seems to be in full swing... for one guy anyway. While i was keepin the GUNNNSSS well oiled up, i watched some news... cause it was the only thing on. Turns out theres this one story that will make any1 cringe. The news ppl post up this photo of a possum that has two arrows stuck through its body. It wasnt dead until the guy that shot it (w/ a crossbow, btw), beat it to death. The jury found him not guilty of charges of animal cruelty and such. The reasoning behind this apparently was that although the man had intentions of killing the possum, he didnt necessarily want to hurt the animal... What part of that explanation was in the vicinity of reason??? Uhh... yea... makes total sense. After the obass lawsuit (involving the man who is suing the fast food restaurants for misleading him into believing the food was healthy...), this story jus made me laugh in disbelief. Oh man....

"The man for all Simpsons", a title for an article in the latest US News and World Report. It involves Rev. Rowan Williams, newly appointed archbishop of Canterbury in the Angelican church. According to US News, he denounces Disney for corrupting youth, but heralds the Simpsons as "one of the most subtle pieces of propaganda around in the cause of sense, humility, and virtue." Thats really high praise, the man does kno funny. Ehh, it was jus something that caught my eye. So, in that case, some random Simpsons quotes for ya:

Burns:"If u scratch my back, ill scratch urs."
Homer's Brain:"Uh oh, he is coming on to me."
Burns:"After all, negotiations make strange bedfellows" *wink*
Homer's Brain:"AHHHHH!!"
Homer:"I think i have to say no to ur backdoor offer. Sure, im flattered, maybe even a little curious, but no deal."

Homer's Brain:"Oh man... i have to go to the bathroom. I shouldnt have had all that beer, coffee and watermelon..."
Burns (continuing):"U dont have to be a whiz to figure this out. Ur looking out for number one. And sometime, ull make a big splash."

Again, the Simpsons rocks, and the archbishop of Canterbury agrees. And it is possible to want to kill something... but not want to hurt it... oh man.... More to come later.

SINCE THERE WAS NOTHING GOOD ON TILL THE DODGERS GAME...

(even tho they lost to the giants, BOO-URNS), i had a little conversation w/ me dad. With all the quality programming this sun mornin... nascar, wnba, various infomercials (i decided to watch this infomercial about this workout machine endorsed by Jackie Chan... it was the best thing on, hehe), having a little verbal discussion w/ me dad seemed like a real good thing. First we started talking about the disadvantages that black people especially have to deal with, since it seems like all the athletes in baseball and basketball, etc, are black. Its jus how society is built up to this point, and hearing a bedtime story or 2 from my History 7B class, i have a little bit more clarity about the whole situation. Its an artificial niche that we carved out for certain ethnicities, that the only way to be successful is to be a superstar athlete or performer. Its a sad state. When it seems as though the only role models out there for the new generation fit into a narrow category, then those hopefuls might think that this is the only way to become successful. Not saying that sport is a bad influence or anything. Sport is an admirable thing, thats y i follow most of it so much. (Golf is NOT a sport, its a game that involves skill, yes, but not a sport. Nascar can be considered one, but... its so horribly boring to watch.) It its purest form, sport is void of race, creed, faction, gender (some cases), and what is left is love of the game, raw human emotion and wit, technique of the highest caliber, and even a little dumb luck. Also something i discussed w/ my dad. Then, he told me about how Asians in general have found success during the recent years, and that their lot in this American society is improving drastically. After hearing some more tales from Asian Am History 20A, i dont really think its that drastic. People of asian ethnicity have had some real rough times since their arrival into the states. And even to this day, even tho it might not be outright, we are still fighting w/ a prejudice that runs deep, and trying to rid ourselves w/ this "foreigness", that asians are forever looked upon as non-American... but thats another matter. Then, my dad went on and said that througout the years, a collective identity has failed the individual, that their interests are neglected. Something to that extent. He said that one of the only things we can truly count upon is family. And yea, family is very near and dear to me. I always believed that family should be one of the most primary priorities, cause throughout everything, family is what u can come back to. Home is always home w/ family there. Then, he talked bout the importance of friends. Again, friends r what keep me tickin throughout the day. And those that are close to me, they make my sometimes scattered existence whole again. Friends, family... After that, our mom came into the fray and we decided to discuss matters of life at a later time. Oh yea, i left out one thing that we talked about, but it pertains to the conversation as a whole. That conversation itself was a novelty, jus father and son talking bout anything. Theres a slow realization out there about the nature of this world, primarily pertaining to technology. Its a paradox indeed, for our world is getting smaller, w/ people able to access information at blinding rates, and being able to communicate w/ any1, anywhere w/ ease. But, we seem to grow farther apart, for human contact, if we wanted it that way, is becoming obsolete. If we were so inclined, we would never have to leave the climate-controlled comfort of the home, devoid of contact from virtually any1. Thinking about this paradox, im glad that i still have these little conversations w/ me dad. Even tho the world is run by machines, the essence still remains human....

The rest of the day was lackluster... at least i had a good dinner... hehe. Well, take care yall, more to come later.

I... LOVE..... GOOOOOLLLLD:

Well, not that much... but i saw a movie w/ a guy that loved it so much that he lost his genitalia in his quest for it. Yeap, i went to c Austin Powers: Goldmember today, and it was pretty good. It was all that i expected, funny stuff. B4 i say anything about the movie itself, i saw some trailers and a good commercial (yea, its weird, i really like this one) in the previews. The commercial is for Nike Presto, the one about the chicken and the really crazy dude running away from it. Its funny cause of the guy translating the french "movie", and its noteworthy cause the crazy guy leaps from building to building, off high ledges... all in jus his presto shoes... Now thats good stuff. What got me real excited was the trailer for The Two Towers, the next installment in the LOTR trilogy. Yeap, when i saw Legolas slide down those steps w/ his double daggers... i was hooked. Gotta go c the triple T. But one thing disappointed me: no trailers for The Tuxedo... BOOO. Well, anyway, the movie was funny, but most of it was racial stereotype and toilet humor. Ehh... at least they didnt go overboard w/ that stuff, it was tasteful to a certain extent, and it was genuinely funny. I was laughing and smiling the whole time. There were some real nice cameos in it too; lets jus say i was pleasantly surprised. All in all, i recommend this movie (now i have to go c the 2nd one... hehe).

After the movie, we had to grapple w/ the indecisiveness... There was a good number of us there, and a few girls as well. (Michelle, Rebecca, Helen, and Josephine to be exact). After a good deal of standing around and talking, we finally decide to do something, and again, its virtually a sausage fest (minus Josephine). Ehh, i think im slowly accepting it... its all good. After a little trip to In n Out, we head on over to CyberWorld and play up some iceworld. Fun stuff, i didnt do too badly this time around. Afterwards, its Nickel Nickel time. I got my money's worth, playin up some favorites of mine. And then there's these free games that they have around, ol' school games that i havent played since i was in 4th grade. I remember pumping in several bucks into these games w/o gettin halfway through. Yeap, and the most enjoyable (and sometimes hilarious) turned out to be X-men, the ol' side scrolling beat-em-up game. I was Colossus (its all bout the GUNNNSS baby), and i kept on using the special attack that drains ur life. Basically what Colossus does is yell out "GUUUAAAHHHHHHHH" and theres this ball of explosive energy that radiates out. Oh yea baby. Hey, with 999+ credits, i can spare a few lives or 2. After playin through the game 2 times over, we head on back to In n Out again to wet our whistles. All in all, a pretty good day *satisfied sigh*. Hrmm, should i take on Colossus as a nickname now... naww... maybe not yet, hehe. But that would be one cool nickname... Its all good. Take care yall, more to come soon.
