CUENTA DE LA PLAYA: TERMINO 7/8/02
Well, this is the end of the series... for the time being. It was a pretty eventful day, pretty interesting w/ some masked spontaneity... ull kno what i mean:
After seeing off my aunt and her family to a trip up to San Fran, i headed off to get a haircut w/ me dad. Its been awhile, my hair was gettin to be real shaggy. Once i was spruced up, Kenny and i headed on over to the gym. Gotta keep the GUNNNSSS well-oiled and loaded, oh yea baby. Once we were done w/ the munitions upkeep, we showered up and headed on over to Eric's place. Kristine and Eileen (it rhymes a little, huh?) met up w/ us a bit later. Eileen was jus about done w/ her hardcore joggin session, so in the meantime we entertained Kristine w/ some Empire Earth stories... (not really, but the game that Eric and Kenny played was pretty funny; Kenny kept attackin Eric's fleet of uber-mechs w/ nano viruses). When every1 got assembled, we headed on over to Michelle's new place... and what a place... The ride to her house took awhile, but it was definitely worth the trip. A little trip over her back wall and there u r... a block away from the surf. Now thats wild; any closer and ur house will be carried off w/ the tide. And the house was quite spacious (the master bathroom was the size of my room... whoa....) with a clear view of the water. In a word... good stuff, hehe. So, we gather around some pizza, talking again about our various exploits, amidst workers and a air compressor that turns on from time to time. (me: "so... how was.." *whirrrrrr* "YOUR DAY???") It was pretty fun anyway. Esther was coming over soon, so we passed the time w/ the crazy blitz solitare card game that michelle taught to us a few days back. I was on the plus side for awhile... but then it went all downhill. Mercifully, Esther rang the doorbell as i started to really get into the negative slide, heh. I really wanted to scale the wall to get to the beach, but that wasnt to be that day... we had to walk around the premises. The gate key apparently wasnt the gate key, so we had to scramble over the door to get outside. That was... fun. (no, really, it was, hehe). And then we walked near the beach toward the shoppin center nearby. Its nice to walk and talk, especially w/ the setting b4 us. A walk doesnt seem as long when u have friends to talk to (i think i talked to the girls about something, but when i talked w/ kenny, it was all inane chatter; as it should be, haha). So, after a bit of walking, we get to the shoppin center place. Kenny had to pick out something for his girl cousin, a new freshman in hs. After searching through displays of shirts, skirts, asymmetrical tops (yea, i guess they exist) and flip-flops, kenny decided on... getting something later. So, we walk further along the street until we get to a paint-it-urself pottery shop. (the name of the place escapes me). Some of those plates and dishes were nice, mostly floral prints, but its all good. Flowers r always nice... Guess the plates were a bit dusty, so every1 went to wash their hands in the bathroom nearby. Meanwhile... the plan coalesced. Ive been wanting to do this ever since Eric mentioned jumpin into the water... We pass by that same surf shop w/ the asymmetrical tops, and Kenny buys a pair of sandals for his cousin. So, along the way back to Michelle's house, Esther suggested we walk by the waves. Since im a sucker for scenic routes (plus w/ an ulterior motive), i follow her along, accompanied w/ Kenny. We wait for the right moment to act... and he jus makes it easier for us. Slamming down his foot on a Hawaiian Punch layin on the sand, Eric sprays Michelle and Kristine. Thats the last straw, and plus he's distracted. While he tries to apologize to Michelle... Kenny and I proceed to take Eric to the waves. Hey, he wanted to take a little dip, ehh? I grabbed his legs while Kenny struggled w/ Eric's flailing upper body. Eric grabbed onto Kenny pretty hard, it made that skinny guy really hard to drag. And he could grab on w/ the best of them. Poor Kenny tried to loosen his grip while i jus pulled Eric inch by inch toward the water. Kristine helped out a bit (hey, she got splashed too, heh). It was a bit tough, but Eric finally got near the water, and he got pantsed in the process. Good stuff. So, Eric was all wet, leaving Kenny and I with soaked shoes... Kenny washes off his new shoes in the surf. Alas, hes the unwitting victim of a surprise... Eric, determined not to be the only one soaked through, tackles Kenny into the water. They thrash around a bit, and it makes me a little worried. I get my socks soaked even more... and they stop. Both of them are drenched to the core, and im pretty dry from the ankles up. Ehh, it was fun, hehe. So, soaked and all, we (guys) parade towards Michelle's house, showin off our GUNNNSS. Hey, give it some time, and even Eric would say its a memorable... uh, moment. (we'll give him a little more time, haha). Sucks that we didnt have a vid camera on us, doh... Well, once at Michelle's, we take a little group photo to commemorate the night and we head off. Trudging back home eventually, i found out that i brought a little chunk of the beach w/ me... in my shoes. Great night??, yea, i really think so, hehe. It was great. Soaking Eric in the waves jus made the night complete, oh yea baby. And thus, ends part 3 of this series. "Thats the end of that chapter"
And since i want to be up to date, heres my day.. in real time (sort of). Kenny is goin off to China tommorow, so being the good nephew/cousin/grandson/uncle that he is, he decides to get gifts for his relatives. And me, being the friend that i am (that is, a good friend, heh), accompany him to the Brea Mall. We roam around the shops for awhile to look for some gifts to buy (i have no idea what to buy, so most of the time im tryin to look thoughtful, hehe). We take a little detour into EB, my kinda store baby, heh. And to my surprise, there was Michelle and Pranav. Coincidences abound, first at Laguna and now here. And then, there was Helen, who i havent seen since Blade 2 back in Berk. Good stuff. James was comin by to meet them at the food court, so Kenny and I decide to come back later after the shoppin. Shirts for his cousin, wallet for his grandma, and a 2002 Lakers Champions cap for his other cousin. We met up w/ James, who happened to bring along an ice cream cake for the b-day girl Michelle. Sittin down and catchin up w/ Helen was pretty good, as was talkin to mr tooooooooooo seeeeexxxxyyyyy James, Pranav and Michelle. Once we were done, Kenny decided to get something else for his uncle, a digital golf caddy thing, and a Pooh bear for his newborn nephew. Good stuff, definitely. And now, back home, i realize... that i shouldnt be up this late if i wanna go work out at 8 tommorow morning... ha ha... Well, gnite to yall, and theres more to come soon.

CUENTA DE LA PLAYA: EPISODIO 2 7/7/02
Here we go, the second installment in my little series about the beach... and this one isnt even on the beach. Well, there was some sand tho, and a bit of waves, but it wasnt the beach. Its close enough:
Since Eric didnt go w/ us to Laguna the day b4, we had to take him along to Raging Waters the next day. Unfortunately, for all of us, Mike couldnt go to Raging Waters... doooh. But, there were $7 off coupons... u cant pass this opportunity up... hehe. So, we pile into Kenny's car for the looong trip ahead... all 5 min and about 3-4 miles of it. Its a wonder y we dont go more often to Raging Waters... its soo close! Well, after we pass through the convoy of cars trying to get parkin passes, we park in one of the overflows. Gettin our essential necessities for the park, we head on over to one of the buses... and we're there. Puttin our stuff into the locker, we're all sunblocked and good to go.. time to show off our GUNNNSSS!!! hehe. The first ride was right in front of the lockers; Neptunes Fury. Ooooh, fury, sounds good. We wait in line... and we wait... and wait. The trouble w/ the Raging Waters lines r that they're short enough to see the end of it, but the wait is so long, so most of the time u'r bakin under the sun. And there was this family ahead of us, a couple and their two daughters. All i can think was... u cant have 2 kids and stay that trim... Anyway, we finally go to the front of the line. And here we go, off into the turquoise depths that is neptunes fury. "ahh... ahh... ahh?" Was that it? Purely, truely, weak sauce. Since we were a bit wet already, we head on over to the wave pool. That was tiring... combating the fake waves and the myriad of inner tubes... that wasnt pleasant. Ok, time for a real ride. High Extreme 2, and it was pretty high... Climbing up the thing was maybe the most tense part... on account of my little fear of heights and that the whole thing was shaking w/ the wind... The girl behind me can attest to that. Ehh, at the top, there was only one way to go, and that was down. Woohoooo.... huh? AAAAaaaahhh, and then BLAM, into the pool. That was pretty fun. The Vortex was close by, might as well. "Woohooo... dum de dum... i think the ride is over.. but y is it speeding up??" And then daylight, and once again BLAM. Time for the speed slides, oh yea baby. To the left is the one w/ the steeper drop, to the right is the one that goes a bit faster than the other. Which one did i pick, ehh? Its all about the need for speed baby. "Hey, this is goin fast... i think the ride's over... what the, more?" BAM, BAM fwooosshhh!!! and surrounded by white again. A little break to get in a snack, and off again, to the inner tube rides. First was Ragin Rapids... ragin in that i skidded on my ass while i was goin down the little slides. Ehh, it was pretty relaxing nonetheless, and the lifeguards were pretty nice. The lady lifeguards were pretty cute too... he he he. Well, off to THE WEDGE, the newest ride there. We went in a three-man tube, Kenny 1st, me in the middle and Eric in the back. That was a goood ride, very fun. Kenny: "I couldnt see the bottom until we went down", Eric: "I almost flew outta the thing." Me:"AaAaAHHHH!" The wedge was the best one we rode that day. WE finished up w/ Thunder Rapids and a little chase down Amazon Adventures. Hey, its time for some dinner. In our semi-formal attire... (in our trunks) we went to this one chinese food court in Rowland Hts. Man... that was good stuff. That sauce that they cooked the fish in... excellent, every bite was a pleasure, and what a pleasure... daaamn. And all for something like 14 bucks total among the 3 of us. Wash it all down w/ some lollicup boba. (ITS THE BEST, BEST I TELL U!). After that, my night w/ them was over, i had to go home (i was a bit tired too, heh). I played around w/ my lil' cousin, and man, the most common things can entertain u when ur 4 yrs old... sometimes when ur 18 too, heh. It was fun anyway. All in all, a good day at the "beach"... stay tuned for the final installment of my tiny series. More to come, reaaall soon.
CUENTA DE LA PLAYA: EPISODIO 1 7/6/02
Well, since i didnt get a chance to really post something from last saturday, i thought i would make this into a little series (even tho i really didnt go to the beach 3 days in a row...). Ehh, its all good. So, it begins w/ last saturday morning...
Before i say anything, happy b-day!!! to Shuan on this day of 7/6/02... ill make it up to u somehow.... My aunt from korea comes to drop us a visit, accompanied by my uncle and their little 4 yr old girl BoMin (my lil' cousin). Its been quite awhile. Last time i saw them was when i visited them 4 yrs ago... whoa. Nothing really has changed, except for my lil' cousin who i get to c for the first time now. It was great seeing them again... but i had to c a good friend of mine off to china. And what better way then the beach, ehh? Luckily, Mike (Gibson, my real good friend) had his schedule open up, so he came w/ us to the beach. Pretty unexpected backup goin toward Laguna (a change of pace is nice, Huntington has a whole buncha rocks on the sand...), but w/ Mike around, it was a treat. Man, this guy is funny, however much he denies it. Ever since we got onto surface roads goin toward Laguna, i dont think i ever stopped laughing. Once he started to talk about his SD skits, especially the ones about the big black minotaur Maurice (long story...) and his suitemate John from Chicaga, i was lost. I couldnt stop crackin up. Once he started impersonatin Jaaahn (thats how u say his name in that Chicaga accent), sayin WTF in that hilarious accent, i must have burst nonstop... oh man that was hilarious. I dont kno what my life would be like if i hadnt met him at all. Much less funny, much less exciting, and a bit empty, ehh? Well, im glad to kno guys like him. So, we finally find a spot (a real decent spot actually, close to the sand) and we unload the cooler and boogie boards. Findin a nice spot on the beach to put our stuff down, me, Kenny and Mike look at the water for awhile. It was pretty overcast... no sun at all. I guess we stopped waiting around for the sun and jus went into the water. Oooh man was it cold... freezing, sappin all the heat out from ya. Took a good 20 min to get used to the water. Once we did tho, it was pretty nice, even w/ the overcast. Using the patented "7 wave rule", we tried to catch some choice waves. The ones that came and we actually managed to ride were pretty wild, a rush of white all around. Disorienting baby. In Mike's terms, we stole the waves "chi" (in dubbed voice: "they are afraid, they kno ur styles r deadly..."). I havent done anything quite like this for some time. Since Kenny mentioned that he used to eat seaweed from the sea (hey, its fresh...) last time he came to Laguna, me and Mike did the same thing... ehh, we jus took bites outta pieces of seaweed, and chased around Kenny to get him to eat some seaweed... all in good fun. Once we were all short of breath, we decided to dig a big hole. Y u ask? Cause... we're diggin a big hole, simple as that. It must have been 3 ft deep or so, pretty good for jus clawing our way through. After awhile the waves were too much for our poor hole, and it started to collapse on itself. It was meant to be... *sigh*. Now, its time for the boogie-board-wipeout-battle-scar-fest. First up is Mike, who tried to ride a pretty high wave... it went up a bit higher than expected and hit him square in the nose. Next up is Kenny. Thrashed around in the tide, the rope that connects the board to ur wrist got wrapped around Kenny, and dug into his ribs. Nasty little abrasion there... And then, theres me... i guess i wanted to ride a good wave and got ahead of myself. I got turned over onto my right side and then BLAM, my right hip slams into the tide bottom, skiddin across some sand. OOWWW is all i could say for awhile... We check the time soon after. Damn, 6 already? Time to wash all this sand off... but who do i c? Out of all places, i catch her here. Its my wushu friend Grace from CalWushu, wow... thats quite a coincidence, but it was nice nonetheless. I meet Berk ppl in all the darndest places... As fun as it was tho, its time to pack up and go home. Again, backup goin toward the freeway, but Mike was there, and i still couldnt stop laughin... i dont kno why its so funny, but it is. We take a little detour to a huge mall on Jamboree due to unforseen circumstances (Mike held it in for half an hr...). After the business is taken care of, we head on over to Eric's place and meet up w/ Michelle as well. Talking about our various exploits (i had my own, but im not goin to say what here) over pizza, we wait until the MIB II showing later that night. MIB II is good stuff, i recommend it. It was pretty funny, w/ the ol' standby scenes nearing the end. Im not goin to say much about it, but its basically big explosion w/ stoic poses, followed by a reaffirmation of how insignificant we are to the vastness of the universe. Ehh, its all good. So, the day had to come to a close sometime, so we drop off Mike at his place. Along the way i tried to have a russian/german/scottish accent as i talked, i think the scottish one worked out the best. Mike's accents are all hilarious, *whew*. Well, we talk about how it would be real awesome to visit China (PRC) sometime. I really hope we can all do this, better start saving up the mad cash right now... But, all in all, i couldnt remember the last time i had that much fun, or laughed that hard. It was great. Great day at the beach indeed. More to come... in part 2.
